There were plenty of smiles on faces – and understandably so – as our non-internationals returned to training today at the CFA.

Gareth Taylor gave his players a few well-earned days off following the impressive 4-1 away win over Liverpool in the WSL this past weekend.

That result meant we headed into the break in top spot as we sit three points ahead of Chelsea, albeit with Emma Hayes’s team having played a game less, the defending champions losing their Continental Cup final the same weekend as our win over the Reds.

The feelgood factor of being leaders was there for all to see as the players got back into the swing of things on their return to our training facility.

We have 16 players on duty with their countries, reduced from 17 after Khiara Keating was forced to return from England camp with an injury.

But those left in Manchester were engaged, industrious and positive as they worked to build up their fitness, with our next assignment seeing a home WSL encounter with West Ham on Sunday 21 April, kick-off 14:15 (UK).
