Vivianne Miedema says she’s excited for what the future holds at Manchester City.

And the Barclays Women’s Super League’s all-time top scorer says there’s no better place for her than with Andrée Jeglertz’s side.

It comes after the Club have triggered the one-year extension in her contract which will see her remain at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2027.

Since arriving ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, Miedema has played 41 games in all competitions for City while scoring 22 goals – a rate of over a strike every other match.

Across that total, 11 have come this term with Jeglertz team chasing the WSL title and the FA Cup.

For Miedema, she’s looking forward to playing her part in the Club reaching new heights.

“It’s something [Director of Football] Therese [Sjogran] came up with quite early on in the season,” she explained.

“She was like: ‘I know that it’s still far away, but we really want to keep you’. For me, I’ve always said that to her as well, there’s no place I’d rather be right now than City.

“The steps we’ve made this season are really good, and I’m really excited to see what that leads to in the end this season, but also next season.

“We’ve signed amazing players, our team is getting stronger and stronger. The way we are connecting right now can mean we can make an extra step and a next step, too.”

During her maiden season at the Joie Stadium, Miedema’s appearances were limited due to injuries.

She had successful knee surgery in October 2024 before returning to fitness and delivered scintillating displays, but her term was cut short once again after picking up an issue during an international break.

The Netherlands forward explained how City’s staff worked closely with her during that time to ensure a full and long-lasting recovery.

And Miedema believes the environment and care afforded to players is an attractive proposition to anyone.

She added: “For me, since the day I walked into City I felt really welcomed and appreciated. That’s something that is not always a given in life and not always a given in football.

“But I have always felt that way here. Even when the times I wasn’t on the pitch, the people around it still helped me through it and made me feel I could play a certain role outside of being on the pitch, too.

“Especially this season, obviously with the good run of games [I’ve played] and the results, that’s only going to strengthen.

“Besides that, the way we play football is attractive for anyone. We’ve got a good combination of wanting to play football, but also being able to actually play on the counter, play in-behind at times.

“Looking at the way we play, why wouldn’t you want to join that right now?”
