Gareth Taylor’s side enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign, going unbeaten across October in both the Barclays Women’s Super League and Continental Cup.

Picking up ten points from a possible twelve in the league, City finished the month at the WSL summit, finding the net on nine occasions while conceding just once.

JOIE PLAYER OF THE MONTH | VOTE NOW

Our Conti Cup campaign has begun in equally impressive fashion with a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Everton.

It was a phenomenal, collective effort from the squad across October, but there can only be three nominees for our monthly award.

Check out our shortlist and have your say below…

Jill Roord

The Dutch international has enjoyed a phenomenal start to life at City since her summer move from VfL Wolfsburg.

Rounding off the scoring with an impressive solo effort on her competitive debut against West Ham, Roord followed that up with a headed brace against Bristol City two weeks later at the Joie Stadium.

She also turned provider in October, laying on for Chloe Kelly’s decisive strike against Leicester City to round off the month.

Providing a new injection of quality in the midfield and final third, our new number 20 has been at the centre of our fast start to the campaign.

Khiara Keating

Keating had made just eight senior appearances before 2023/24, but the 19-year-old has grabbed her first team opportunities in the opening weeks of the season with both hands.

Featuring in all four of our WSL fixtures across October, our goalkeeper kept three clean sheets against West Ham, Bristol City and Leicester respectively.

And while Gareth Taylor’s side would concede a stoppage time equaliser against Chelsea, Keating produced a string of fine saves to preserve the point and was named Player of the Match at the Joie Stadium.

The youngster was then awarded with her first senior England call-up for the Lionesses’ recent UEFA Nations League fixtures against Belgium.

Chloe Kelly

An ever-present across October, Kelly has once again been a standout performer for City out wide in the early stages of the campaign.

The England international grabbed her first goal of the season when her stunning strike opened the scoring against Chelsea at the Joie Stadium.

She then added to that tally in our final match of October, when her early goal against Leicester would prove the difference at the King Power Stadium.

Combining exquisite technical ability and vision with an eye for the spectacular, Kelly’s picked up where she left off last season with a sequence of impressive individual displays.
