While the new Premier League season is in full swing, Gareth Taylor‘s side’s first competitive fixture of 2023/24 doesn’t fall until Sunday 1 October.
We face West Ham United on that occasion, hoping to get the new Barclays Women’s Super League off to a strong start as we set our sights on silverware.
City took part in a pre-season friendly behind closed doors at the weekend, getting the better of Bristol City at the Academy Stadium.

Deyna Castellanos and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw were both on target, with an own goal also helping the hosts claim a 3-2 triumph over the Vixens.
It was a good early test for City, and will have provided plenty of confidence and motivation to keep up the efforts that are clear to see on the training pitch so far in pre-season.
As always, though, those meticulous preparations are complemented by plenty of smiles at the CFA, and it’s clear to see that the squad are delighted to be back together as a group following this summer’s World Cup.
