Dominant Centre-Back Presence
A commanding figure in defence throughout his time in the Academy, Jahmai has progressed through every age-group side after joining the Club aged eight.
A warrior on the pitch who relishes his defensive duties, Simpson-Pusey progressed to the Under-18’s for the 2022/23 after he signed his scholarship in July 2022.
He went on to make 18 appearances as well as featuring for the EDS on two occasions.
Simpson-Pusey made the transition to the EDS squad for the 2023/24 season but was also a senior figure for the Under-18s in our FA Youth Cup campaign.
He lead the side out in our 4-0 FA Youth Cup final win over Leeds United in May 2024 in what was a special evening for the defender that topped off 35 appearances across both Academy teams.
His developing talent recognised by Pep Guardiola, Simpson-Pusey travelled to the United States on the men’s pre-season tour. He went on to make his senior debut for the Club in July 2024 against Celtic.
Still a teenager, he made his senior debut for Pep Guardiola’s side in 2024/25, featuring as a second-half substitute in City’s 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.
Simpson-Pusey went on to make a further five appearances for the first team, including his bows in the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, whilst also captaining our Premier League 2 squad to league phase and play-off victory.
He was then named the Premier League 2 Player of the Season after a starring role in City’s nine clean sheets en route to two trophy lifts. That made him the first defender to receive the award.
He will now spend the 2025/26 season on loan at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
