Assistant coach
Bury-born Ajose called time on a successful playing career in the EFL in 2021 and gained valuable coaching experience at his final professional club, Exeter City.
A pacey forward with an eye for goal, Ajose enjoyed various successful loan spells as well as permanent stints at the likes of Peterborough United, Leeds United, Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic having initially come through at Manchester United.
But four months after hanging up his boots, Nicky was back on the training pitch with Exeter having joined the club’s academy coaching setup.
He would work alongside fellow City assistant coach Chad Gribble at this time, with the pair nurturing the next generation of talent from Exeter’s impressive cohort.
Progression to Under-18 Lead Coach would follow at the Grecians, before returning to the north west to join Gareth Taylor’s staff as first team coach.
