The waiting was officially over today as Bernardo Silva was finally able to take part in his first training session since joining Manchester City.
The Portuguese midfielder officially joined City from Monaco on July 1, having become the first of Pep Guardiola’s pre-season signings.
But his involvement for Portugal during this summer’s Confederations Cup tournament in Russia meant that Bernardo was away on holiday while City kicked off their build-up ahead of the new campaign while on tour in the United States during last month’s International Champions Cup event.
However, with Pep Guardiola’s squad now back in Manchester, the 22-year-old was finally able to link up with his new team-mates at the City Football Academy.
And Bernardo – who was one of the shining lights during Monaco’s march to the French league title and Champions League semi-finals last season - looked raring to go as he and his City colleagues began their preparations for Friday’s final pre-season friendly clash against West Ham in Iceland.
