Cityzens Giving is back and you have the power to decide how £400,000, donated by City Football Group its partners, is split between six community football projects across the world.
In New York City, 20-year-old Emily and other Young Leaders are seeking to use the power of football to tackle the issue of isolation.
New York is the fourth most diverse city in the United States but, all too often, young people in different neighbourhoods remain isolated from one another.
The Soccer Bloc project aims to bring people together and the young people leading this initiative are creating safe spaces across the city and providing access to after-school and summer activities for children to attend.
New York is famous for its melting pot of cultures and Soccer Bloc will celebrate this by connecting children and young people from different communities across the city and creating an environment where they feel they always have someone they can speak to.
“With the new pitches that are being built all over the city, we’re trying to create this dynamic where we link people with other communities and give them a network so they know they always have someone to turn to,” said Emily.
“We want to be known as the city that gives you opportunities.”
