Man City Women’s new recruit Carli Lloyd says she is ready to take the Women’s Super League by storm.

The 2015 and 2016 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year signed for Nick Cushing’s side in a bid to test herself in unchartered territory with the double-winning champions.

Having already earned international acclaim following World Cup and two-time Olympic glory, Lloyd knows exactly what it takes to achieve success – and she’s hoping for more in Manchester.

“It’s a unique opportunity for me to go abroad, play over here and be faced with a new and different challenge,” she stated. “The facilities are fascinating and it’s an unbelievable football club to be a part of. I can’t wait to get started.

“This isn’t a World Cup or Olympic year so this is the year to test the waters. I want to make a huge wave.

“I know the Champions League is big and I hope to be playing in a Champions League final. That’s first and foremost; then of course, winning the Spring Series as well and the FA Cup.

“If I can accomplish that and help this team push on, it will be another thing crossed off my bucket list.

“Each and every day, I treat myself as a huge professional. I want to keep getting better and I think it’s great for me to come here and see what another women’s league is all about so I can go back and help the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League).

“Champions League is huge and not too many female footballers are able to say they’ve competed in that. At the end of the day though, I don’t just want to be a competitor in that – I want to try and help the team win it all.”
