Nick Cushing and defender Jen Beattie have delivered their thoughts ahead of City’s Champions League clash against LSK Kvinner.

Nick Cushing and defender Jen Beattie have delivered their thoughts ahead of City’s Champions League clash against LSK Kvinner.

The Blues will host the Norwegian outfit at the Academy Stadium for the second-leg of the Round of 16 on Thursday 16 November, with kick off at 7pm.

In the first leg, Cushing’s side secured an impressive 5-0 victory away from home and the manager has said that Thursday’s game will improve the players’ mindsets.

Confidence is key for all the players,” Cushing explained ahead of the match. “I think when we are playing well and we are winning then confidence is high.

“The next draw or defeat is only round the corner if standards slip .

“It’s hard to win and it’s getting harder every year to win. We have to be on our level and the players have to make sure they train hard and be competitive - there has to be competition for places.

“We knew a year in the Champions League would help our mindset.

“Thursday is another opportunity to improve the mindset of the players and our approach to Champions League games.”

Beattie shares Cushing’s views ahead of the game and is preparing to treat the upcoming match like any other.

“We did well making semi-final last year,” Beattie added. “We want to be involved in these games.

“You always want to be in this position going into the international break.

“It’s something we’re very, very pleased about. We’ve said it already - in our heads, it’s 0-0. We will treat this game like any other.”
