Pep Guardiola has faith that the young duo of Brahim Diaz and Phil Foden can make the step up to the Manchester City first team when required.
With the Blues’ spot in the last 16 of the Champions League secured, the Catalan may take the opportunity to blood the youngsters and he has no concerns about selecting either of the pair.
Speaking to journalists ahead of City’s Feyenoord encounter, Guardiola said: “Phil Foden is ready to start a game. Brahim as well.
“They would not be training with us otherwise. The skills are there. The quality is there. We can help them with the speed - they have reduced time to make decisions because everything is quicker.
“They have to be ready because sometimes, the manager will make a surprise.”
Guardiola also provided an update on John Stones’ injury and revealed he does not expect to have the defender back until the New Year.
He was joined at the pre-match press conference by Eliaquim Mangala, who told journalists the home side are hoping to seal first place in Group F in front of the Etihad Stadium crowd.
