And the City left-back was left stunned by the reaction of the fans as he entered the field as a second-half substitute.

The crowd gave him a rousing reception, cheering his name loudly as he came on to replace Fabian Delph

Mendy spent seven months on the sidelines after the rupturing anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace earlier this season.

But he is now fully fit and ready to challenge for a place in City’s starting XI during the final games of the season.

City, already champions, were in fine from against the Swans, who were helpless to stop our swift attacking football.
