Manchester City's players are under no illusions that the Premier League remains the priority this season, says Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City’s players are under no illusions that the Premier League remains the priority this season, says Pep Guardiola.

Despite enjoying a 13 point cushion at the top of the table the manager insists there will be no let up from his squad, such are the demands of the competition.

“The league is constant,” said Guardiola ahead of the midweek trip to Arsenal.

“The players know that. They know how important the league is for the club.

“We are always focused and we know how tough it will be until the end of the season.”

With City set for a repeat of the Carabao Cup final at the Emirates on Thursday evening, Guardiola is certain the Gunners will pose a stern test, despite getting the better of them at Wembley.

“Arsenal is always a hard game,” he added.

“Maybe they are not consistent but at home they are so strong.”

The manager also revealed that Fernandinho will miss the game, while Raheem Sterling is also a doubt.
