Pep Guardiola has revealed that Manchester City’s 18-match winning streak earlier this season stands out as his own personal highlight of an unforgettable title-winning campaign.

As he looked ahead to Sunday’s final Premier League clash away at Southampton, Pep was asked to select his own special moment of a season that has seen City set a host of Premier League records on their way to lifting the title as well as also securing the Carabao Cup.

And the manager had no hesitation in what stood out for him – that remarkable run of wins which began on August 26 away at Bournemouth before finally ending with the goalless draw at Crystal Palace on December 31 last year.

“There are many (special moments.). The 18 games we won in a row is the reason that we have won the league,” said Pep.

“That was the key point of the season.

“Winning the title is special because the Premier League is the toughest competition because of the weather, the amount of games, the physicality...it’s so complicated.

“But there were many special moments. Yaya’s final game for the club last Wednesday was another.”
