Pep Guardiola believes that Raheem Sterling is continuing to improve and develop as a player.

The Manchester City winger has been in superb form all season long and made another huge impact at international level during the week.

He scored two superb goals to help England secure a memorable 3-2 UEFA Nations League victory over Spain in Seville.

And as he looked ahead to Saturday’s return to Premier League action and the visit of Burnley to the Etihad Stadium, Pep said that Raheem was only going to continue to thrive.

“Raheem’s mentality now is stronger than before. His movement, the way he creates space…” said the City manager.

“It is important to score goals but character, personality does not depend on scoring two goals.

“The most important thing – and he knows this – is that he is just 23-years-old. He can still be better.

“It was important for him, and for England to win these kinds of games.”

Ahead of the visit of the Clarets, Guardiola warned his players to be prepared for a tough afternoon’s work against Sean Dyche’s side who, after a tough start to the season, have taken seven points from their last three league games.

“Playing Burnley has always been a tough game, since I came here,” Guardiola added.

“They are so strong, especially at set-pieces, so we have to avoid making unnecessary fouls.”
