PEP: Raheem praise from boss

The Blues had to grind out a win against Rafa Benitez’s well-organised side who fought back from Raheem Sterling‘s early goal to go in level at the break before Kyle Walker‘s stunning long-range effort settled the contest.

In Pep’s post-match press conference, the boss was asked what percentage he thought the squad were playing at.

“I don’t know,” Guardiola responded. “We will improve. I don’t have doubts about that. But at the moment I don’t know.”

When asked about managing expectations in terms of goals, Pep explained that City aimed to be better that the opposition not to target a higher amount of goals.

“We can’t avoid that,” Pep added. “The players know this is part of the process, it’s what we have to do, be better every game than the opponent.

“After if we score more goals, it’s a consequence of how we play. We don’t target lots of goals, we target to be better than the opposition.

“In this period of five games, it’s happened. We want to score more goals, but today we created the chances.”
