Janine Beckie said she believed Manchester City’s special team spirit proved the key ingredient in helping the Club secure Continental Cup glory against Arsenal.
The Blues fought out a tense final with the Gunners at Bramall Lane, with the sides still goalless after normal and extra time before City claimed the trophy thanks to a dramatic 4-2 win on penalties.
Goalkeeper Karen Bardsley made two crucial saves in the shoot-out before Beckie converted her penalty to secure the trophy.
Reflecting on the triumph, Beckie said: “We deserved this as a team. Everyone put in a huge shift over the course of the campaign. We played as a team and stuck to the game plan.”
