Pep Guardiola says he is pleased with how City are shaping up so far this season ahead of another big week for the Champions.
Saturday’s dramatic 2-1 win over Southampton, which saw Kyle Walker cap a fine comeback with an 86th minute winner, maintained the pressure on leaders Liverpool who hold a six-point lead ahead of next Sunday’s Anfield Premier League encounter.
Before then, City travel to Italy to tackle Atalanta in the Champions League where a victory would confirm our place in the last 16.
And asked at his post-match press conference following the Saints win how he thought City were playing at this stage of the season, Guardiola was full of praise for his squad.
“Quite good. The way we played against Southampton I was so delighted. I don’t know how many corners and shots and we did it,” the City manager asserted.
“We conceded one shot on target, we defended well, we were so focused, it happened with the young players in the last game (the Carabao Cup win over Southampton), and it happened at Crystal Palace who are so difficult.

“The four years we are here - especially the last three seasons, two and a half season - we don’t have any regrets.
“There are some details we don’t like, and we spoke about it, but in general we have a lot of points and we face one team (Liverpool|) who have 10 wins and one draw.
“We are going to go to Italy and afterwards we got to Anfield and try to play a game.
“We saw what happened with Liverpool in the late minutes at Aston Villa so there are a lot of games to play.”
