With David Silva, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez also on the score-sheet it set the seal on a fine night’s work by City.

It was also the second time in four days that City had scored six goals at the Etihad following last Sunday’s 6-1 defeat of Southampton and was the Club’s biggest-ever Champions League victory.

Though Hoffenheim hit back late to claim a 2-2 draw away in Lyon in the other night’s other game in Group F, City top the standings on nine points with just two games left are in pole position to reach the knockout stages.
