In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Young Leaders in the community of La Cava are improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
Around 3.7 million people in the Buenos Aires suburbs do not have access to water mains – La Cava is one of those communities.
Nara and fellow young leaders in La Cava are equipping local children with tangible solutions to these issues, including installing clean-water handwashing stations and teaching them the importance of handwashing.
“In our neighbourhood, we can’t drink water from the tap, otherwise we risk getting ill. This has happened to many kids.
Through football, we can teach them about handwashing and germs.
The children are aware that the water isn’t good to drink, that it isn’t filtered. Whenever we give them water, we use the filter that was given to us by Xylem.”
This Cityzens Giving project is delivered in partnership with love.fútbol.
