In Cape Coast, Ghana, Young Leaders are working hard to improve access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene.
According to UNICEF, 76% of households in Ghana are at risk of drinking water contaminated with faecal matter.
Speaking about the lack of clean drinking water, Emmanuella, a young leader in Cape Coast, said: “Our main challenge is water scarcity.
In this community, we don’t get easy access to potable water, so every morning children walk and get water from the well to do their household chores, before preparing for school.”
Fellow young leader Albert added: “We use football to educate the children in the community, and we talk about the importance of handwashing, safe water and staying away from germs.”
This Cityzens Giving project is delivered in partnership with Play Soccer Ghana.
