As Ipswich return to the Premier League, we go back 30 years to recall a classic encounter.

It was back in 1994 that Francis Lee became the new chairman of City and began his reign with the visit of Ipswich Town to Maine Road.

A legend on the pitch, his new job got under way with a 2-1 victory.

It didn’t start well though with Ian Marshall seizing on Garry Flitcroft’s poor backpass to put the visitors ahead.

Carl Griffiths got the first goal of the new era, although it was to be his final one for the Club, brilliantly set up by some dazzling skill from the much-missed David Rocastle.

And Flitcroft made amends for his error with his close-range finish in the second half.
