Penning a one-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, subject to international clearance, the midfielder joins from Barcelona after departing for the La Liga outfit last summer.
During his first, illustrious spell with Pep Guardiola’s side, he made 304 appearances and lifted 14 major honours including the Treble in 2022/23 which the German captained us to.
Now, he’s back in Manchester and ready to write the next chapter of his fantastic City story so far.
And Gundogan says he’s appreciative of the fans’ support already as he makes his Blues homecoming.
“Well I’m very thankful. I’m very grateful. I feel privileged to be back. I had an incredible time here,” he declared.
“I hope my time from right now will be just even better. I promise I will do my best to be even better than I was
“But it feels just so nice to be home. And I’m. I’m really thankful for the welcome because I’m not normally not that type of guy who looks so much into social media.
“But you know when something like that is close and the people start to talk about it.
“And I mean a reality also is that I left last year, you know, so there might there could be a lot of people that say ‘OK, you left, we don’t want them back’ or whatever.
“But I read a little bit and like 99.9% was just amazing and positive. When people wishing me to come back and then on top of that also the messages that I got here from Manchester from the people here in Manchester.
“[They] were just all so positive, you know, and it just showed me that this decision is just so right. And it feels also so right, to be honest, that I am. I’m just happy to be here right now.”
