But the Spaniard has insisted our preparations for Fulham have been unaffected by his absence - nor was it for our victory over Sheffield United last week.
Following the routine back operation, Guardiola has remained in his homeland to recover until after the September international break.
This saw his miss our 2-1 success at Bramall Lane, and he will remain away as we lock horns with Marco Silva’s side on Saturday 2 September at 15:00 (UK).
But Lillo explained how he’s remained in consistent contact with the boss throughout the past two weeks.
“I speak regularly with him,” he said.
“Not just footballing terms, he’s much better. Things are taking place the way they should. All of us are delighted. We are really looking forward to him being back. Can’t wait.
“[Our preparation is] the same as before.
“But with Pep there is more energy with him here. We’re in complete contact with Pep all the time.
“We share our responsibilities as well. Our roles are defined by him and they were in the past. He intervenes, but we’re not quite finished in our preparation.”
