After penning his six-year deal to complete a move from hometown club Leeds United, the England midfielder sat down with mancity.com to revisit some of his old Instagram posts and tell us more about the important people and moments in his life.
Hailing from a close-knit Yorkshire family, Phillips’ mum, siblings and his much-loved late grandmother, Granny Val, have played a key role in his career to date.
“It’s hard to put into words to be honest,” he said when asked about the importance of his nearest and dearest.
“I always want to do the best I can for them and make them proud. I think the most important decisions I have made I have always had them close and this [joining City] is one of them, so I happy I have involved them all in it.”
