Kevin De Bruyne revealed his huge sense of pride in the wake of being voted City’s Etihad Player of the Season for a record-equalling fourth time.

The Belgian midfield maestro was announced as the 2021/22 winner of the coveted award at last week’s city centre victory parade which celebrated our dramatic Premier League title win.

With almost 80,000 votes totalled in all, De Bruyne fended off the challenge of team-mates Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva to scoop the prize which followed hard on the heels of the 30-year-old also being voted the Premier League Player of the Season.

And, after collecting the award from Official Supporters Club general secretary Kevin Parker at the parade, KDB thanked his City team-mates along with our fans for all their unstinting support.

“I’ve been here seven years, I love them, this is my team. This is where I want to be and this is where I want to win trophies,” declared De Bruyne who scored a career-best 19 goals across all competitions in 2021/22, including 15 in the league.

“I just wanted to push for the title, but this team deserves so much credit.

“I’m very proud I could help the team to win the title, this team deserves it, and the fans deserve it.”
