Toure, who deputised for manager Pep Guardiola who was absent for a personal matter, was impressed by the battle the side put up at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“When you look at the games, like against Real Madrid, you could see when neither team had control, we were able to keep fighting and keep winning 50/50 balls,” Kolo said.
“That’s something that with City we’ve instilled a lot. The team always had control of the ball but this is something you need to do as well.
“There are moments when games are intense and play against a quality team you need to fight as well. We still have the base of Man City which is a positional team game.”
