Pep Guardiola insisted Fulham should be credited for their performance and the goals they scored rather than  poor defensive play by his players.

The visitors created numerous opportunities throughout the game, scoring two good goals in the 3-2 defeat to City.

The boss, however, says he is happy with his team’s defensive work.

Asked if he had concerns, he replied: ““Except for Mbeumo in the first minute (versus Brentford), the other games we were playing really well when we conceded.

“It’s not nice to [have to] come back, but we create chances to go 1-0 or 2-0 in every single game.

“ Sometimes I give credit. The first goal - who expected Jimenez to do this incredible touch?

“Why not give credit to them more than it be defensively bad? There are actions you have to defend, better but step by step we will improve.”
