Happy LGBTQ+ History Month from everyone at Manchester City!

This month, the Club will proudly join millions of people across the world in discussing and reflecting on the history of the LGBTQ+ community through a number of different activities and engagements.

Both our Men and Women’s teams have joined our Official Supporters Clubs in promoting LGBTQ+ History Month with messages of good will.

The Club will also be working alongside Canal Street Blues (CSB), the official LGBTQ+ branch of Manchester City FC, as part of those celebrations.

First Team players will learn more about the group by getting to know some of its members in a series of video calls.

Beyond this, the Club will also delve deeper into the history of CSB, looking into its formation and how it has grown by chatting to current representatives about their experiences of following City and how the group has made football more inclusive.

City in the Community will also be marking Football vs Homophobia, a campaign which exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels in football, during LGBTQ+ History Month.

Manchester City’s official charity will be embedding worksheets within its high school sessions, which aim to educate young people on how they can help to create inclusive environments.

Internally, CITC and Football vs Homophobia will be coming together to provide staff with training sessions; focussing on how to inclusively communicate with participants.

This has also been supported by a roundtable discussion with CITC staff on best practice and experiences, which will now be offered as part of the induction process for new members of staff at the charity.
