Pep Guardiola has thanked the physios at Manchester City for guiding Erling Haaland through the striker's busy start to the season.

Haaland has scored 14 goals in his nine Manchester City appearances across Premier League and Champions League football so far this season after being affected by injuries throughout his final season with Borussia Dortmund.

The Norwegian has just returned from international duty ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby, where he was joined by City 1st Team Sport Therapist Mario Pafundi.

Asked about why Pafundi travelled with Haaland, Guardiola said: “In events like European Cups or Wolrd Cups, many physios will go with players.

“The case of Mario is not an exception. I say to the club the most important department, everyone is important but most important is the physios. They take care of the legs.

“Erling last season struggled a lot in Dortmund. He spent last year injured and arrived here with problems after a small surgery in summer time. He started to work with Mario, Rico and other guys. Thanks to them and for his work ethic he can play regularly.”
