New signing Manuel Akanji says he loves the way Manchester City play football.

And the 27-year-old believes his game is perfectly suited to his new surroundings.

Akanji completed his move to City on deadline day, joining from German side Borussia Dortmund and signing a five-year deal that will keep him at the Etihad until 2027.

He will add further options to a backline containing a wealth of top-class talent.

The Swiss centre-half, who has collected 41 international caps, says having watched plenty of City games, he is an ideal fit for Pep Guardiola’s team.

“Yes, I love the way Manchester City plays,” Akanji told ManCity.com in his first interview as a City player.

“I watch a lot of Premier League and obviously a lot of Manchester City games, because they have been champions many times in recent years.

“I really like the football style the team plays, and I think I can fit perfectly in that style”
