Nathan Ake says a week which features Tuesday night’s key Champions League clash with Olympiakos followed by a vital league encounter with Liverpool, serves as the perfect illustration of why he joined City in the summer.

The Dutch defender has made a fine start to life at the Etihad, impressing with his cool, calm composure.

The games are currently coming thick and fast with City in the midst of a run of seven games in 21 days and Ake says the challenge encapsulates why he moved from Bournemouth to City in August.

“Anyone who plays football wants to play in the Champions League. To play those nights is perfect,” Ake declared.

“Next weekend is a very important game, a good one. It’s good to be involved and it’s why I wanted to come.

“Every game is a big one. We want to do well, so every game is important. We focus on Olympiakos first, which is important for our group. Then we’ll see what comes after.”
