Bernardo Silva has won the 2021/22 Nissan Goal of the Season award.
The Portuguese midfielder scooped the prize for his superb volley in Manchester City’s 2-1 victory against Aston Villa in December.
It was an outstanding effort from Bernardo, who fired Gabriel Jesus’ inviting cross into the roof of the net to finish off an incisive counter-attack, ensuring Pep Guardiola’s men left Villa Park with all three points.
The 27-year-old fought off stiff competition from Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, Rodrigo and Caroline Weir to come out on top in the fan vote.
Gundogan finished as runner-up thanks to his winning goal in the final-day victory over Villa and Mahrez’s precise finish in March’s Manchester derby completed the top three.
