Despite a fine all-round display from City, it was the Spaniards who prevailed 4-3 on penalties in our quarterfinal second leg after the two sides had drawn 1-1 after 120 minutes on the night and 4-4 on aggregate.
It was a heartbreaking way for the European champions to bow out, with City dominating territory, possession and chances as well as straining every sinew against the Spanish champions.
But with another huge game less than 72 hours away, the City boss said the immediate priority was for his players to recharge their batteries before attention turns to that Wembley showdown with Chelsea.
Asked about how he would go about picking the players up, Pep said: “We’ll see tomorrow. Now is rest.
“Friday we travel to London to play the game so we will see. Friday and Saturday we will see how the people react with their mood.
“Recovery is easy when you win. It is semi-final of the FA Cup so we will compete as best as possible.”
