Pep Guardiola has given his initial reaction following news about the proposed new European Super League.

It was confirmed earlier this week that City were among 12 of Europe’s leading clubs who have come together to establish a new midweek competition.

And speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League trip to Aston Villa, the City manager offered his initial thoughts on the development.

“We are not the right people to answer the questions. The presidents can speak more clearly about where football is going to go. It is uncomfortable for us because we don’t have all the information,” said Guardiola.

“I can give you my opinion, but no more. That is the reality. I would love the president of the committee to go out around the world and explain how we got this decision. I support my club… I love to be part of this club.

“But I also have my opinion but right now it is just a statement. That is why it is uncomfortable for the managers. We don’t have all the information.”
