With cases dramatically on the rise across the globe in the wake of the emergence of the Omicron variant, City have also been hit hard.
Ahead of last Friday’s 4-1 FA Cup third round win at Swindon, 21 players and backroom staff were forced to self-isolate after a slew of positive tests.
But asked if players and staff were being encouraged to stay at home, assistant coach Borrell – who took charge at Swindon with boss Pep Guardiola having tested positive – said City were doing everything possible as a club to try and minimise risk.
“The Club is 100% the same as it was from the beginning of the pandemic,” Borrell pointed out.

“We have gone back to the training protocols that were in place at the beginning of the pandemic - there is a lot of guidance and advice in terms of the players trying to minimise risky situations.
“But obviously the virus is everywhere - especially for the people who have children.
“At the end of the day they go to school and have activities and you can get it from anywhere.
“In terms of the Club, the Club is doing great in terms of protocols and guidance and updating the situation.
“But we are trying to minimize risk situations.”
