The Club’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), has released a new video in its participant story-telling series, ‘We Are City in the Community’.

Each month CITC is spotlighting its work and programmes through the voices and stories of its participants across Manchester.

The fourth video sees Kenzie discuss how being taken out of mainstream school sessions, into smaller Premier League and City in the Community Inspires sessions, allowed him to feel calmer and receive the more in depth help and attention he needed.

Kenzie said: “I became part of the City Inspires programme because I needed more help in a small group environment.

“Since being part of the group, I have received the extra help I need, and it has helped me focus more on important things.”

“Now I’m part of this programme I feel more confident and happier in my relationship towards my education.”

Partnered with the Premier League, City Inspires aims to use the appeal of Manchester City to work with secondary school learners who are at risk of not reaching their potential, and to support them through the education system and early adulthood.

CITC coaches deliver a high-quality education curriculum that inspires pupils to succeed and excel academically, physically, and socially.

The programme provides an opportunity for pupils to learn essential life skills, with a focus of improving their engagement in education, prosocial behaviours, and mental well-being.
The Charity’s reporting for the year started in September 2022 and since that date CITC have reached more than 300 participants across more than 700 sessions.

City Inspires is not limited to working with just mainstream secondary schools.

For more information, email Jonathan.pauley@cityfootball.com.

The team currently delivers in a number of different high schools and Pupil Referral Centres throughout Greater Manchester.

Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the curriculum content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the school/group they are working with.

Kenzie’s video forms part of CITC’s month long spotlight on its Inspires and BTEC programmes, helping to celebrate International Day of Education. Keep an eye out later this month for another We are City in the Community video.

City in the Community moves with city youth to empower healthier lives through football.
