Manchester City celebrated its charity, City in the Community (CITC) during Sunday's 1-1 Barclays Women's Super League draw with Everton.

Prior to the day, CITC Premier League Primary Stars participants from Greenfield Primary School were tasked with drawing Manchester City Women’s players for the matchday graphics.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for CITC participants included flag wavers, taking part in the ball-team, welcoming players into the stadium and shadowing Manchester City content teams.

Following the game, one participant, Libby was even able to interview Kerstin Casparij.

Elsewhere, the City in the Community Joie Stadium, renamed for the day, came alive with charity branding ahead of kick-off, including a centre circle display, bespoke LEDs and participant drawn graphics to help raise awareness of CITC’s identity and purpose.

The City squad also showed their support by wearing City in the Community branded t-shirts and mid-layers during the pre-match warm-up.

To help further raise awareness of the day, Interim Head Coach, Nick Cushing visited a local CITC session earlier in the week, commenting about his visit in his press conference saying: “It’s really special, and for us to have a game with the women’s team dedicated to our local community is really important to us as the team.

“I’ve been here a long time, from training back at Platt Lane, our Club is the community club of Manchester, it’s the lifeblood of our team.

“To dedicate the game and get out into the community, I went to a local school, it’s special and I really enjoyed this week.”

The day was organised to help raise awareness of the Club’s charity and its work to empower healthier lives through football.

Commenting on the day, CEO of City in the Community, Michael Geary, said: “Days like today play a pivotal role in allowing us to raise interest and awareness for CITC amongst fans and players.

“It’s been special to see participants from across our programmes taking part in unique experiences and I’d like to thank the Club for their huge support on the day. We’ve had some wonderful feedback from parents about how impactful the day has been.

“I’d also like to express our gratitude to Nick Cushing and the players, who show their support for CITC all year round.

“We look forward to seeing the return of the community matchdays next season!”

Throughout the day, the attention of fans was drawn to the CITC Prize Draw.

The newly redeveloped product was highlighted in many areas, including the pre-match show, across the Etihad Stadium and within the dedicated matchday programme.
