Gareth Taylor says he feels privileged to have been given the opportunity to manage Manchester City Women’s team.

The 47-year-old, who played for the Club between 1998 and 2001, expressed his pride after signing a three-year deal to succeed Nick Cushing as Head Coach.

Taylor has enjoyed a successful spell in charge of City’s Under-18s for the past three seasons and is very much looking forward to testing himself in a first-team environment.

“It feels great,” he said in his first interview since being appointed.

“I’m really proud and privileged and really excited about the journey going forward.”

In a wide-ranging interview with CityTV’s Caroline Oatway, Taylor also discussed his aims, ongoing recruitment plans, his management style and the conversation he had with Cushing before taking the role.
