City were embroiled in a thrilling four-way title race up until mid-April, but successive away defeats saw us fall behind in the final weeks of the campaign.
However, a 14-match unbeaten run in the Barclays Women’s Super League between October and April, including victories over Arsenal and Chelsea, showed glimpses what this young side are capable of.
Indeed, rather than there being wholesale change this summer, Taylor is instead excited to see his team take their game to new heights in 2023/24.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of our final match of the season against Everton, he said: “There won’t be a huge overhaul, there’ll be minimum disruption.
“Maybe one player in terms of coming in but it goes back to what we were saying about squeezing every last drop out of what we have.
“Improving in that space, making sure on the training pitch we’re getting more out of the likes of Lauren Hemp, squeezing more out of the likes of Chloe Kelly, can we get more out of Bunny Shaw? I think we can.
“She’s [Bunny] had a fantastic season but we want more and I think she’s capable of it.
“Mary Fowler is a player who is going to be so much better next season if she stays injury free. There’s a real talent in there and a player who can score goals.
“We need to squeeze more out of Filippa Angeldahl, Yui Hasegawa, Laura Coombs, Deyna Castellanos. It’s about homing in on those little individual bits that will add up and make the difference. It’s exciting.
“I’m really excited about that next part of how we make players better. That’s what I’m all about.”
