City travel to Leigh Sports Village for an FA Cup fifth round tie just two weeks after beating our local rivals 1-0 in the Women’s Super League.
Caroline Weir’s wondergoal settled that contest at the Academy Stadium, but Taylor does not feel his team’s superiority was reflected in the scoreline.
City’s Head Coach wants to see his side deliver a similar performance if we’re to claim local bragging rights again, but is confident his players can deliver.
“I would say we should have been three or four up [in the previous derby],” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“It shouldn’t have taken a wonder goal to win it. The game is usually won in both boxes. If you can be efficient at the top end and stingy at the other, you’ve got a really good chance.
“I think the thing for me that was really important was the win, psychologically, and the reward as well because the players deserved that.
“We have spoken about the areas we need to improve on to make it a little bit more emphatic, because I think we deserved it.
“We know we are going into a tough game on Sunday and we know there will be a bit of retribution wanted from the opposition. I get that and we would be the same.
“We need to make sure we control the game in the way we did previously and we know the hard work and effort that takes. but we are more than capable of doing it.”
