Gareth Taylor has called for Jess Park to build on another eye-catching display after the youngster scored her first goal of the season in our 5-1 win over Everton.

The 19-year-old forward was at her lively and energetic best after coming on as a second half substitute in our Continental Cup victory, grabbing City’s fourth on the night after being teed up by Ellen White.

That performance followed Park’s instant impact off the bench in Saturday’s Manchester Derby draw, when she forced the rebound for White’s late equaliser after hitting the United bar with a rasping long-range drive.

And although Taylor has been impressed with her progress so far this season, he insists there’s still more to come from the youngster.

Jess Park came on and looked really lively and energetic,” the City boss reflected.

“She was a real thorn in the side for Everton’s backline.

“Jess has shown really good moments for us and that’s what we’re seeing now, we’re seeing more of those moments on a more regular basis.

“That’s the challenge I’ve made to Jess, when you get these opportunities, you’ve got to make it count, be as lively as you possibly can, create panic in the backline.

“I certainly think she did that and I think she’s done that over the performances she’s given us this season.

“It’s a real positive moment for Jess and she needs to maintain that level of performance and effort because if we can get that on a regular basis, we’ve got a really talented player.”
