Gareth Taylor is excited by the challenge of competing for silverware on multiple fronts towards the end of the season as we begin our FA Cup campaign on Sunday.

So far this term, the Blues have played 11 league games while featuring five times in the Continental Cup - booking our place in the semi-finals of the competition last Wednesday with a 6-0 victory over Bristol City.

Since returning to action after the winter break on 15 January against West Ham, City have since played four games in 10 days.

It means we’ll continue to compete on three fronts as we host Sheffield United on 29 January in the trophy we reached the final of last season.

And Taylor is relishing the opportunity to fight for trophies with fixtures coming thick and fast throughout the remainder of the season.

“Yes of course. It’s tough. These competitions are tough. There’s high levels the further you go in the competition you tend to come up against strong opponents,” he said.

“Yeah there’s no easy competitions to win. We’ve seen that in the past. I think everyone who’s won those competitions have deserved it and earned the right and had to go through some tough moments.

“So it’s good. It’s what we want. We want the challenge and enjoy the challenge and look forward to progressing in the manner that we have.

“We’ve gone on a really good run since early September. The team has really contributed well. Everyone has got to know each other and we’re starting to see the fruits of that on the pitch.”
