City boss Gareth Taylor says American World Cup winner Rose Lavelle is perfectly poised to make a key contribution in the defining part of the FA Women’s Super League campaign.

Lavelle, along with fellow United States star Sam Mewis, made the switch from playing in North America to join City last summer.

However, her impact has been interrupted by a number of frustrating injuries.

But with Lavelle now full fit and with the fight for the league title coming to the boil – and City also chasing another Women’s FA Cup success – Taylor expects the midfielder to have a big part to play between now and the end of the season.

“Rose always trains well and she will have a contribution to make in the last part of the season,” Taylor asserted.

“Coming from a different league, we’ve seen with a lot of players coming from the US to the WSL the transition can be difficult.

“She’s picked up injuries in that period - and also there’s been good form from other players in that position.

“Her minutes are starting to go up now. Hopefully now she can stay injury free and do her bit for the team.”
