Janine Beckie says playing for City has been everything she hoped for – and more.

The Canada international has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal, extending her stay in Manchester to 2022.

Commended for her pace, commitment and positive attitude, the forward played a key role in helping City to domestic cup double success, netting 13 goals – most notably converting the winning penalty in the Continental Cup shoot-out victory over Arsenal in 2019.

Across her 46 appearances, Beckie has also showcased her impressive versatility: employed on the wings and even recently at right-back in the absence of the injured Aoife Mannion.

The 25-year-old is also admired for her team ethic, work rate and cheerful personality and says she could not be happier to have signed a new contract.

“I am absolutely delighted to be extending my time here at City,” she declared.

“The last two years have been more than I could have imagined and after the progress and memories I have made so far, there was no doubt when it came to making the decision to re-sign.

“The Club is committed to the growth of the women’s game and is continuing to produce one of the best environments for players in the world.

“I am very much looking forward to next two years and adding my presence to a trophy winning team.

“I want to thank Gavin Makel, Alan Mahon and all support staff for this opportunity to continue to be part of the City family – I am grateful and very excited for what lies ahead.”
