Ten years ago today, Jill Scott joined Manchester City - to mark the occasion, here is Jill's farewell interview from 2022...

Jill Scott says she hopes fans remember her as a player who gave her all every time she pulled on a Manchester City shirt.

The midfielder is set to leave the Club after eight seasons when her contract expires this summer.

She will depart a true City legend, having been a stalwart of a golden period during which she won one FA Women’s Super League title, three FA Cups and three Continental Cups.

An influential figure on and off the pitch, Scott has been a key figure in the Club’s success as well as the growth of the women’s game in general.

The 35-year-old will leave an enduring legacy at the Academy Stadium and says she hopes that through her performances fans could see her unwavering commitment to the cause.

“I think to be part of that history, from the start in 2013, people do say you have played a big part and I would like to think I have,” she told mancity.com.

“But all I have ever done is turn up to training with a massive smile on my face, big heart, always put in 100% and I hope the fans know that every time I put on that shirt, I was willing to run myself into the ground for the team.

“They have been the best fans, especially for me personally.

“I feel like we have built a special relationship. Even when I went to Everton and Aston Villa, they were wanting City to win but they were still supporting me, and I thought that was an incredible thing for them to do.

“A massive thank you [to the fans].”
