For the first time since 2008, the competition is back this weekend, as City and Chelsea lock horns at Wembley Stadium in the 2020/21 season opener.
While the previous five FA Women’s Cup Finals have been contested at the national stadium (along with some Lionesses fixtures), the opportunity to play at Wembley has been limited within the women’s game.
The reintroduction of the Community Shield has provided that chance and Walsh, who scored in the 2019 FA Cup Final, says she is thrilled that the more experienced members of the squad are witnessing the fruits of their labour in helping to grow the game.

“Playing at Wembley is always unbelievable,” she told ManCity.com, “especially for women’s players.
“It’s not often we have the opportunity to do that.
“I’m lucky that I’m a young player who has had the opportunity to play there a few times, but it’s great for the older players who have done so much for the game.
“We have so much respect for their careers and it’s great that they can finally play a Community Shield at Wembley.
“Being an England supporter, I’ve always watched big games played there. All the girls are looking forward to it.

“Having the first game of the season against Chelsea is always going to be interesting and hopefully, we’ll put on an exciting game for the fans at home.
“It’s a season opener and a big game - and the first chance to get a trophy this season.
“Chelsea will be looking forward to it as much as us. It’s down to who is going to be the best on the day and hopefully, we’ll do that and put in a good performance.”
