Kerolin Nicoli says she was ‘shaking’ in anticipation of our UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Chelsea ahead of the first-leg at the Joie Stadium.

And the Brazil international expressed her delight after helping Nick Cushing’s side to a strong 2-0 win in front of over 3,000 supporters in Manchester.

A second-half double from Vivianne Miedema secured the success over the Londoners just four days after our narrow 2-1 loss to Sonia Bompastor’s team in the Subway League Cup final.

Skilful winger Kerolin starred in the triumph by leading the press, constantly driving at the visitors’ defence and providing the Netherlands international’s second when teeing up Miedema who drilled low into the net.

The fixture also represented the former’s first taste of Champions League football, and for the 25-year-old, it was a personal moment to savour in a sparkling career to date.

“To be honest I was really nervous and shaking [ahead of the game],” she revealed.

“It’s because it meant a lot to me, but when I started the game I thought ‘I need to be myself’ and enjoy the game, this is where I can do my thing.

“I think we have a lot of players to help us, we have to focus on recovery, watch the game back and see what we can do even better.

“But I’m really confident we can continue to play how we did. They’re really hard to play against but I’m so happy.”
