Laura Coombs, Sam Mewis and Aoife Mannion took time out to connect with female Young Leaders in Kuala Lumpur, Sao Paulo and Washington DC over Webex to talk about leadership, life lessons, football and their go-to karaoke songs.
Players and Young Leaders shared their first football memories and discussed the highs and lows of the last twelve months, the importance of teamwork and resilience, and ways to build confidence and self-belief.
The three players all signed a Manchester City shirt as a surprise gift to the Young Leaders at the end of the calls.
Jewel, a Young Leader in Washington DC said: “This was a wonderful opportunity. The players were so positive and supportive of the work we do here in DC and that of other Cityzens Giving young leaders across the world.”
These virtual meets followed on the heels of a series of activities run by Young Leaders back in March to celebrate International Women’s Day, using the power of football to uplift young women and girls in their communities.
Throughout the last twelve months, Cisco technology has powered the connectivity and collaboration between young leaders across the world, enabling them to share community football know-how and innovation, in turn helping them to adapt to new challenges and accelerate their impact for children and young people all around the globe.
