The defender was making his debut for his country in a Victory Shield clash with Northern Ireland when he sustained the injury just 15 minutes after coming off the bench.
While such an injury would be tough for any young footballer, Josh has been buoyed by the many messages of encouragement he has received.
He said: “Everyone has been really supportive of me. I have had lots of texts and calls from the players, coaches and members of staff at City, all wishing me the best.
“I’ve also had lots of messages from fans, which I’m really grateful for.”
Josh was one of five City players to feature for the Young Lions, a record number for the Academy.
“It was great to get called up,” he recalled. “My Mum and Dad were so proud of me.
“I was a bit nervous making my debut, but I think everyone was nervous as you really want to impress.”
Stockport-born Josh remains in hospital in Bournemouth, and could face up to five months on the sidelines, but is staying positive.
He explained: “It was a good, clean break, but I had lots of swelling, so I had to stay in hospital to have an operation.
“I was disappointed at first, but I’m determined to come back stronger.”
Everyone at the club wishes Josh a speedy recovery.
